This existing residence in Worcester Township (Montgomery County, PA) is 12 years old. The time had come for a long planned expansion of the kitchen to include an adjacent sitting area with a fireplace. The owners also wanted an upgrade to professional appliances, more countertop and preparation area, and a desk for homework. The existing kitchen dining area was to remain. As part of the kitchen expansion a butler’s pantry was added for service to the formal dining room. The dining room was also remodeled to include new west-facing windows to afford a view of beautiful sunsets and Pennsylvania farmland. The owners wanted to improve both the visual and functional access from the kitchen and kitchen/dining areas of their home to the rear yard and new pool. They desired the exterior to feel more integral to the home’s interior with a strong visual connection. This was accomplished with a room of windows in an octagonal shape- for a wide angle view of nature. Photography by Michael O'Neill.
